許多外國人分不清楚「馬來西亞人」和「馬來人」的差別。
我的國家叫「馬來西亞」，英文是Malaysia，是個多元種族的國家，如馬來人、華人、印度人、原住民等等。馬來西亞的公民稱為「馬來西亞人(Malaysian)」，簡稱「大馬人」。而，馬來人(Malay)則是馬來西亞的其中一個民族，他們的語言叫馬來語，英文一樣是叫Malay。因此，馬來西亞人不一定是馬來人，可以是華人或印度人或其他種族。還有，馬來人是馬來西亞人口最多的種族，官方語言為馬來語。
雖然各族群已經在馬來西亞共居了最少也有1世紀了，但是各族的性格特質、風俗和語言大多都還保留下來，故各種族之間有明顯的差異。因此，正確的指稱是很重要的。幾乎所有馬來西亞人都是多語人士，各族的共同點就是我們都愛吃。

A lot foreigners are confused with "Malaysian" and "Malay". I have written en Chinese before. But I have never written it in Spanish and English.
Well, my country is called Malaysia. It is a multiracial country. There are races such as Malay, Chinese, Indian, oborigine etc. People from Malaysia is called a Malaysian. Meanwhile, Malay is referred to one of the races in Malaysia and its language. So, a Malaysian is not necessary a Malay, he/she can be a Chinese or an Indian or etc. Moreover, Malay is the largest ethnic group in Malaysia. So, Malay language is the official language of Malaysia.
Although all these races have been living side by side for centuries, every race still preserves most of its characters, custom and language. There are significant differences between all the ethnic groups. So, it's important to mention the demonym correctly. Almost all of the Malaysians are multilingual. In common, we like to eat a lot.

Muchos extranjeros están confundidos con "malasio" y "malayo". He escrito este artículo en chino hace mucho tiempo. Pero nunca lo he escrito en español.
Pues, el nombre de mi país es Malasia(Malaysia en inglés). Es un país multirracial. Hay etnias de malayo, chino, indio, aborígenes etc. El gentilicio de Malasia es malasio. Mientras, malayo es nombre de una etnia de Malasia y su lengua. un malasio no es necesariamente un malayo, puede ser un chino o indio, etc. Además, malayo es la etnia más grande. Entonces, la lengua de malayo es la lengua oficial en Malasia.
Aunque todas las etnias han vivido juntas hace siglos, cada etnia todavía conserva mucho de su carácter, costumbre y lengua. Hay diferencias significativas entre todas las etnias. Por eso, es importante mencionar el gentilicio correctamente. Casi todos los malasios son multilingües. En general, nos gusta comer mucho.
